Great campground next to the river. Flat tent areas. Plenty of grills. The bathrooms are pretty clean and there's plenty of hot water. Steve was an awesome resident camper and stopped by to visit our group. The river is a great place to cool down and go for a soak.
Last July took a group a group of boys scout here, it was our base camp for a couple nights while we whitewater rafting in the area. For a flatlander from Indiana the drive to the campground was an experience in itself. :) The campground is nestled in a beautiful area. The site (#1) was great with plenty of room for tents along with lots of picnic tables and nice fire pit. The camp host was very friendly and told us some great stories about the area. Will try and return as often as we can!
Campground near lake Santeetlah. We come here to walk near the creek, but there are marked camping spots, restrooms, open field with a volleyball net and room for other sports, seems like a great spot.
Wow, this place is beautiful. We only stayed one night. We plan on returning. It is right next to flowing water and there is an open field and volleyball court, huge firepits at the campsites and large grills and picnic tables if you need them. Plenty of space between sites. Well worth a trip!
Beautiful campground, right next to Joyce Kilmer trail. (I would drive to the TH—it is close but can be dangerous walking.) There are spigots for drinking water and the bathhouses are clean. Sites 2, 3, and 4 are on the river; site 1 is not but you can still hear it and walk to it. Two things I would have done differently: download hiking maps before going—absolutely no cell service. Pack your own beer/wine—the ingles in robbinsville is convenient for grabbing camp food on the way in but it’s a dry county! Overall a wonderful trip—definitely will return!
