It’s currently topping out at about 95° back home, so we looked for a place up in the mountains that would be much cooler. Here it will top out at 80 degrees, with nighttime temps driving into the 60s. Beautiful park, friendly staff. The full hook up sites are close together out of necessity. Since the campground is about 3500 feet, it would be very hard to extend full hook ups throughout the park. The full hook up sites that they do have are immaculate– combination of paved and gravel with picnic tables and a beautiful view of the lake. For trailers over 25 feet I imagine that it would be very tight to fit in the full hookup area. We picked up two bars on Verizon. Close to the park is a public swimming area three boat launches, and a marina. In the summer, there is also a waterfall cruis
We stayed in our motorhome on an unlevel lot for 14 days around July 4 ,2010. Park is super rustic with unlevel gravel roads and campsites, buggy bathrooms, minimal amenities. Lots of tent campers come here to camp on the shores of the lake. Not for a fussy camper but we had our RV facilities so it was not a showstopper. The view and access to Lake Glenville are spectacular, however, so boaters love it here. You can pull up a boat to the campground shores to pick up passengers. Cool temperatures make this mountain location a paradise and escape from the heat. If you want storybook family camping, go 45 minutes away to Oconee State Park in South Carolina. That's where we would take our grandkids. If you want million dollar views and access to Lake Glenville and Cashiers/Highlands
Nice campground. Above the lake on a bluff. We stayed in a tent (primitive) sites - excellent - spaced far apart, wooded, shaded. Rv sites are very, very close together. Limited lake views thru trees, but nice. Could ealk down to the lake at least from sites #6 and #7. Very fliendly, helpful staff. Ckean restrooms/showers. Inexpensive for today's campgronuds.
Had one of the best camping experiences of my life here! Camped the beginning of October when it was still wonderful temperatures and had the entire primitive peninsula to myself. It was quiet, beautiful and I enjoyed walking some trails to the water to watch the sunrise. Staff was incredibly accommodating and helpful for my stay. The heated bathrooms were amazing! Highly recommend hiking to the High Falls waterfall from the recreation area around the lake bend. I hope to stay again!
Very pleasant and quiet campground situated on a bluff above Lake Greenville. Both RV and primitive tent sites available, with a restroom in each area. Some of the restrooms have showers. My only negative is they lock the gate from 10pm to 8am, not allowing me to get an early start on my hike days, but I could have parked in the small area outside the gate and just walked the half mile uphill to the gate.
