Quality Inn & Suites Kearneysville - Martinsburg

I was surprised by how highly this hotel is rated online, because my experience was far from what I expected. The property is in dire need of repairs and gives the impression of an abandoned shelter. The steps leading to the entrance are dirty and uneven, with visible cracks, and the rugs in the lobby and hallways appear to have seen much better days. The room itself was spacious, but it felt dreary and uninviting. Some guests had clothing and shoes left outside their doors, which added to the neglected appearance. The lighting throughout the hotel was poor, making the hallways and lobby feel dark and unwelcoming. There was a surprising number of items in dissrepair immediately obvious when walking into the room: dings/gouges/tears in materials (walls, lampshades, curtains, door to the apartment, etc -you name it -too numerous to mention all) and the disappointment was immediate). Besides the room issues: No cups for 24 hour coffee. Doors open to storage area revealing lots of junk . No breakfast choices (either waffles or stale bread) No automatic entrance doors (hard to pull a luggage rack thru and hold the door open) No evidence of TLC anywhere. Except! the Check in manager was terrific! The Check out employee not so. She sat behind super tall desk listening to very loud ? radio/podcast? Horrible service. The manager wanted to lie directly to my wife’s face and act like she was offering us an extra for night for free when our reservation literally was already for the day we checking out so weren’t comped for anything. I have videos and photos of the roaches in the rooms. The manager offered to refund the stay after we had to be moved rooms three times due to roaches but there was no refund. She tried telling us we stayed any extra day which wasn’t true as we were checking out on time. People live in this hotel as their home so it can be very loud. Saturday someone was playing the drums all night long.

I've never encountered so rude staff in a hotel. There is almost no sound isolation between rooms and the adjacent room to ours had the TV on very loud until 3:30am when we asked the people in it to turn it down. Management then came to our room 1.5 hr later with a noise complaint, saying they had heard the TV from our room. When we said we've not had our TV on even once since checking in, it was the room next to ours and it was annoying us too, management didn't believe us. I'm writing this review at 5am after having gotten less than two hours of sleep total last night as a result of the loud neighbors and false accusations from management. Positive: Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Phone line in my room didn't work so the overnight auditor called my cell # from the hotel phone (not the computer) for my very early wake-up call. Three cheers for the Staff! Pretty quiet for a Fri nite Negative: ""
