Quality Inn Miami Airport - Doral

I read all of the negative reviews, so here is my review. I'm an airline pilot, I stay in a lot of hotels. Many times, I have to get my own room the day before or after my trip. Checked in. The two front people were great, happy to help. Go to room. Hallways are beat up, but not the end of the world. The room. Comfortable bed, microwave and refrigerator, all I needed for a good night's sleep. Check out. Here is the one detail that ruined the stay. I called for a late checkout. The phone in my room didn't work, so I used my cell. Normal is 11:00am, and my Platinum status got me 11:30. Not ideal, but whatever. I'm almost ready to leave my room at 11:10, housekeeping knocks. If I can give it zero stars, I would. Do not waste your money. There are much better hotels in the area. Cheap is not better. The staff is rude, the hotel is disgusting, the food was horrible. I checked in very late and asked if I can do a late check out, which was only an hour later. They wanted to charge me $100.Usually hotels will give you a free late checkout. I asked again in the morning and it went to $50. The rooms are falling apart even though they look redone. The lamps have rust, the furniture is old and worn, the tub had mold in it, there was dirt on the sheets and there was a hand nail on the floor. Paint is chipping from the walls. It says on the website to call for the shuttle. I did. 8 times. Noone answered. And no shuttle ever arrived so we had to pay to get to the hotel. The MAIN reason I booked this hotel was for the shuttle. When I got to the hotel, I tried speaking to the young man who was on his personal phone when I arrived why he didn't answer. He stated he was too busy too and management told him not to if he was busy. He was very rude. Upon getting to the room, the room was dirty. Dirt all over the floor, mold everywhere, hair in the shower. And just when I convinced myself it was for only one night and I prepaid for this unrefundable room, the cops arrived. The standard seemed to have dropped compared to other Quality Inn hotels I have stayed at. Front desk personnel were helpful but some individuals seemed very casual about serving. While the stay was comfortable the overall appearance of the room was disappointing and requires general maintenance. E.g. paint was falling off the ceiling, the iron was all scratched at the bottom and the iron board wobbly. No black tea available at breakfast.

First, we paid for shuttle service to the port. When we asked them to confirm it, they told us the no longer do that service, which we already paid for. Second, the room was old, and worn down. Hairs left in the bathroom. Tiles on the floor were coming up. There was a big burn hole in the bathtub. We asked for 2 extra pillows, we dont have any extra pillows they told us . . Seriously one of the worst places we have ever stayed at. Never again.
