Prairie Waters Inn

Easily the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, and I travel a lot for work. The staff who "work" there are hardly ever there, so when youre ready to check-in you have to call a number to have one of the girls meet you there. We checked in this last Monday and waited an hour in the lobby, with fresh groceries. When they arrived, they were not friendly, in fact they acted upset that they were being bothered by guests checking in. The rooms are in complete disrepair. Doors that dont latch, lights that dont work, smoke detectors missing, drains that dont drain, stained bedding, stained carpet, stained everything. To top it off, the room we stayed in had black mold in the bathroom. This hotel realistically should be shut down, or sold to new owners.

I am an ecological consultant whose crew finished a two week study on livestock grazing. I found the new management very accommodating. He and the staff were very flexible with our needs. The rooms are well cared for and comfortable. My room included a large refrigerator and microwave. Cleaning staff were conscientious, thorough and considerate. They worked around personal items, as well as sensitive research equipment and computers. During my stay I saw several businesses treated the same way. The parking lot is perfect for our trailer and can easily park large rigs. With all the activity I witnessed these last two weeks, my room was quiet and restful. I stopped by this place just to check it out for future reference. It was like entering the twilight zone. No one and I mean NO ONE was there. ANYWHERE! What kind of place is this? WEIRD.

Walls are like card board you can hear through them. And the front door that says your room key is used to unlock it, is never shut. So even people who are not guests, can enter. Other than that I really like this place. A lot nicer than what I was expecting when I heard the price. The blankets and sheets are a lot softer and warmer than any motel/hotel I've been to. The room I got must have been updated, because it looked a lot better than the pictures they showed online. There's also a Casey's and Dollar General right across the street, so that's convenient.
