Prairie Flower Campground

We have camped here multiple times. This is one of our favorite campgrounds around the Des Moines area. The facilities are kept clean and every spot has been great. There is now 6 dumping stations and that helps with being such a big campground.

We loved our week stay here. The site could have been more level but was a good site for us. The campground is quiet and close to a lot of other parks.

Awesome Campground in a beautiful area of Des Moines. This looked like a relatively wealthy suburb with nice houses all around. Walkable access to the lake. About 15-20 minutes away from the City Center of Des Moines but the Farmers Market on Saturday's is an absolutely MUST stop. We really enjoyed our stay, just wish it was longer. Pro's: 1) Beautiful location right on the lake. 2) Long concrete pads that had no problem fitting our 43' TH. 3) Small jungle gym for our kids to play on. 4) Walking distance to the lake beach. 5) Easy to navigate roads 6) Awesome and easily accessible fishing areas around. Con's: 1) Electric only, although they had water throughout the park and a dump station up and the front. 2) Trash dumpsters were VERY far away. Had to truck our trash out to the dumpster.

Beautiful campground. Paved sites with 50/30/20A electric service. Two dump stations, each with multiple lanes. Potable water near dump stations and scattered throughout the campground. Playground and bathroom/shower building in our loop. Most sites have some view of Saylorville Lake.

Ticks. Ticks. So many ticks. Great place to walk/hike year -round. 5/5 ticks would recommend this locations to a friend. Quiet in off -season. Lots of trees lost in 2020 derecho plus additional non-oak being cleared. Asphalt not cleared of snow/ice and water/facilities not available in winter. Deer and coyotes frequent area. Pheasant, owls, and hawks often seen plus the occasional turkey.
