Customer Reviews
The folks at the Ponderosa Campground run a wonderful campground. It is large, clean, and incredibly easy to park and camp in. The front office staff could not have been nicer and accommodating. The views of the distant mountains in the morning were beautiful. It is an easy walk to the museum and downtown. The spots are not all perfectly level and we did have some issues leveling. Otherwise would highly reccomend
Large older campground with lots of mature trees for shade. Beautifully appointed office/store. Spotless bathrooms. Well located in town. Friendly and helpful staff with lots of recommendations for tourist sites and restaurants. There is a Walmart a mile up the road. Directly across the street is the Best Western Premier hotel, which houses the 8th Street and Ivy restaurant (best in Cody and great service). ||||Spaces are a little tight, but not overly so. We stayed here 4 days in mid-September in our travel trailer. Despite being after peak tourist season, the campground was still busy and nearly full so plan accordingly. ||||Note that they take checks (and I assume cash), but no credit cards. Here in Wyoming more and more businesses are opting out of CCs (or charging extra to take them)
Have stayed here 4 times and have not been disappointed. Great showers and tenting location - loved the lower valley area. Used the Teepees once and was a great experience. Right within walking distance of so many things. Came for July 4th and enjoyed all the attractions Cody provided
We stayed with our 39' RV at Ponderosa Campground and absolutely loved it! The location is perfect — central to town and just minutes from the rodeo, museum, and shopping. This is a welcoming, family-owned campground with such accommodating hosts. They gave us great instructions and helpful tips on what to see and do in town. The campground itself is beautiful, with spacious sites and a fantastic playground for kids. We truly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!
Our first experience at the campground ~ it was a good to know the staff was available, accommodating and super friendly... They tended to every need/request (as I understood from other campers). All the bath houses were clean/well stocked. There is a wonderful gift shop directly behind the office.... The reviews I read about a "small dog park" is nonsense. Plenty of room for dogs of any size (yes, even the Great Danes we saw)...Located on the main street, night noise wasn't an issue. Definitely will be returning again!
