Get the awesome experience of camping in a treeless campground where it’s windy, hot, raining, dry, and weather changing within minutes. There is good distance between the campsites. We arrived in the evening during a thunderstorm with 30 mph winds. The next two days were overcasted and hot. The weather changes rapidly so come prepared with the right outfit and gear. There is a portable restroom if you need it. Pack WATER accordingly because there isn’t any water nearby except for the reservoir. There are stores nearby to buy water, beer, snacks, bait, and the essentials too. Most campers are in RVs, trailers, and tent trailers. For easier tent camping, go to the other side where there are green grass, electricity, and flushing restrooms. Remember to stop by the ranger station on the way i

Beautiful if you go the right time of year. Very clean with nothing around. We are the only ones here.

The lake was great, camping areas are not bad either. Seen worse public outhouses at camping sites, not the cleanest but not the worst. The down side is getting to the lake and what's close to it. There is a massive cattle/manure area about 1mile away so be ready for a terrible smell if coming from town on the dirt road. At the lake it self I didn't seem to smell it as much. Still worth visiting and going boating, fishing, and camping. Specially since it's free.

Plenty of room to spread out, didn’t see another soul while visiting on a late spring weekday aside from an amiable black-tailed prairie dog. Beautiful wide open landscape with well marked and maintained dirt roads. Only downside is the area is wind prone and exposed/treeless, so not ideal for fair-weather campers or campfire-o-philes on a breezy day, or for those seeking true privacy. On the bright side, any flies or mosquitoes trying to share my campsite appeared to have been wind-yeeted into Kansas and were nowhere to be seen. Great location for withering in the sun, yearning, contemplating, and watching the clouds pass by. Bring water, there are no spigots. Some of the sites have a windbreak sheltering their picnic table. Gravel “pits” for tents were level, well-kept and big enough to

Well, nice for the area. No trees on west side of damn. The east side is greener and few more trees.
