Pleasant Valley Motel

This motel is just gross. I wouldn't suggest anyone passing through stay there. It's an unsafe environment. There's constant police activity and violence at this establishment. It is used by the department of social services as means of housing and is very uncleanly. Upon arrival I had to leave and buy professional cleaning products and my own sheets and blankets. The motel management is shady. It's just a place to not stay if you value your health and safety.

Wallpaper is peeling off the wall. The mattress was not squarely on top of the box spring and a vast amount of dried blood was visible. It was disgusting. We moved the mattress back into place. Beds do not have fitted sheets. The pool is not open for use. The owner is very nice. There is free breakfast. If you just need a cheap place to sleep, this is adequate. Convenient location. Bathroom is very clean. Not enough places to plug in devices. We carry a power strip with us.

Their genuine care for the property creates a homely atmosphere, making it an exceptionally comforting place to stay. The rooms, in addition to being quiet, feature comfortable beds, efficient heating, and a designated workspace with a desk and chair, perfect for utilizing the free wifi and enjoying a variety of TV channels. The motel's strategic proximity to amenities like EBT-friendly shopping, pizza places, the library, and a food pantry adds to its convenience. It's a secure and welcoming environment that has provided me with the space I need to work on myself and focus on the future."

I just traveled through Southeast Asia for 4 months and have a very high threshold for budget accommodation, but this was truly terrible. I agree with the review titled "Wow, and not a good wow". The place looks ok from the outside but the room was bad throughout. The smell was a stale musty, cigarette and mold smell that permeated everything in my suitcase. The walls were covered in a variety of scuff marks, scratches, cigarette burns and other unmentionable stains. The carpet look filthy and when I accidentally put my bare foot down next to the bed it was saturated with liquid. I ran in the bathroom to wash my feet and wore my flip flops but when my husband did the same his sock was stained a grayish brown. I came to Poughkeepsie because my Grandmother had passed away. I needed a cheap place to stay. Looked fine on the website. When we pulled in, the state police were "visiting" guests in other rooms. Every time we pulled into the parking lot, everybody who stayed there would run out and stare at us. The room was filthy. We went to the store and got our own cleaners to clean the bathroom, which hardly worked. The staff was odd, and had the personality and professionalism of rocks. Next time I will pay more and stay in Poughkeepsie. I almost asked for my money back, and went elsewhere, but stuck it out for the night.
