My scout troop just finished a three day weekend at camp pioneer. The facility was excellent even with the rain on Saturday morning the scouts had a great time. If you and your troop or group would like to enjoy a quiet setting in the woods then this is the place. All the scouts are asking when can we go back ⚜️👏
We booked our family reunion at Pioneer Campground (just under 40 ppl) and it was perfect. With both cabins and campsites available; there was an affordable option for every family memeber in their price range. Everyone is in different places financially in life, from just starting out to the more established. Making it possible for everyone to attend without it being a financial burden. Private cabins were great for the babies to take a nap. While the main rec hall was awesome for the late night board games. Fire pit for our nightly devotionals. The creek was shallow for the babies and a little ways off deep enough for the older kids to cool off. The kitchen is well stocked, ice machine was a favorite. Hot showers, laundry on site was amazing, with little kids its a must and sets thi
I remember vividly going Camp Pioneer back in the 90s with my Boy Scout Troop. It rained five out of the seven days we were there, flooded out several of the camp sites. Fun Times😂
Matt has done a great job building this campground up over the past few years. This campground offers numerous cabins (with AC) and tent camp sites, whatever you desire for your group. It also has a full men’s and women’s latrine with toilets and hot showers. There is also a common building with a complete kitchen and dining area. Be sure to take advantage of the many hiking trails that lead down to the creek and river for a fun outing with your group. Overall this is a great place to stay to experience the beauty of the Oiachitas and the are that used to be a historic Boy Scoit Camp. My friends and I from out of state stay here once a year for a reunion and we thoroughly enjoy it. You will not regret staying in this campground!
We held our 1st Family Reunion here. There ended up being about 20 of us. Ages 2 to 70+. All had fun. My one hesitation about returning is that the campground is not ADA friendly. We have someone in a wheelchair and the cabins were not easily accessible. The main issue is there not being a ramp to access the kitchen and common areas. You have to go down a rocky slope from the cabin. This was challenging. Someone using a cane or crutches would have difficulty. Also, as a previous boy scout camp the bathrooms are designed to accommodate more males than females. The experience was still wonderful.
