It was our first time visiting this National Park. Unfortunately, it was during a government shutdown in mid-October. The staff was limited and we were relieved to know that the East side entrance was open along with the campground. We stayed 4 nights in the campground which was great. We spotted deer and wild turkeys. We had a RV site with electricity. There is a water faucet where we can fill our RB trailer and a dump. We stayed mid-week and the lots were not very full. There were school kids staying in the campground and they were well behaved. The bathroom was clean and shower is free. Each shower had shampoo, conditioner, and soap and hot water. There is a pool and it was open. The camp store and National Park store were open. The staff were nice. The campground was quie
We spent one night here at the campground. Nice leveled spot. Showers were ok. Dump station doesn’t have potable water. Cave hike was 5*!
Fantastic spot to see the stars. We were able to see the Milky Way Galaxy without any equipment. This is probably the most amount of animals we have seen too. During our two-night stay we saw turkeys, deer, condors, raccoons, quail, grey foxes and a lot of burrowing critters. Lots of holes all over the place. We had a couple of grey foxes ransack our camp while we were at the toilets. They didn't get any food but they knocked over a pot and a coffee cup. Everyone respected the noise hours for the most part. We checked in Friday at 1pm and the place was deserted, with everyone showing up around 5-6pm. The Bear Gulch Cave made the trip entirely worth it, but leave early to get parking (think 7am) or you will be turned around by rangers.
A perfect camping weekend. We had site 49. It was the perfect site. Large, lots of shade, we needed shade and slightly off the road. After hiking, we showered and jumped in the pool. We sure needed it, it was extremely hot. If you need shade, hike from the campsite to Bear Gulch, its moderate and had a lot of shade. From sitec49, it's about 7 miles.
Pinnacles Campground was a fantastic experience! The site was spotless—hands down the cleanest campground bathrooms I’ve ever seen. The roads were well-maintained, and check-in was a breeze. The market and camp store are super convenient, stocked with essentials and great resources like books on local wildlife and plants. The downside? The store’s pricey—a bundle of firewood felt steep, so bring your own if you can. Fires are allowed in spring (when we went), but they’re restricted in summer due to dry conditions, so plan accordingly. Wi-Fi’s available near the trailer parking, though it’s slow and spotty. Thankfully, our AT&T service worked perfectly the whole time. The real highlight is the location—stunning caves are nearby, with even more a 1.5-hour drive around the park. Spring was
