Picnic Point Campground

A picturesque, shaded and spacious campground lacking vegetation or foliage between sites. The campground is open lawn under tall trees. All four sites are waterfront, and a large group can reserve the entire campground with a few days notice. This is a tent-only walk-in campground, though the walk from car to campsite is extremely short. The location is gorgeous, but fees are higher than nearby campgrounds that provide drinking water and garbage service. Picnic Point provides neither. It would be great to see the national forest restore drinking water service here. Since the water pump at Picnic Point is without a handle and a sign says the well is being permanently closed, grab your water at the glacial spring or West Point Campground on your way in. Nice little place to have a cook out and fish

We've been coming here annually for 6 or 7 years now. Coming from Milwaukee it's very worth the 4+ hour drive. We've been through sun and rain, storms, mosquitos and deer flies but this place is incredible and worth any and all obstacles nature throws your way. Boaters definitely come early in the morning between 5-6am, so a spot away from the boat launch is ideal.

Great place to start a kayak/canoe down to the dam or have some lunch. Camping is enjoyable as well with access to a pit toilet and water pump. Be careful driving down in winter as it is usually not plowed and you can get stuck down there without an off road vehicle.

A great little campsite nestled in the mondeux flowage. This little campsite is perfect for those who want to get the private property camping experience without owning the land. Tucked way back in the woods this campsite often offers a private camping experience for the casual camper. Fishing is great around picnic point,and if memory serves the shoreline is suitable for swimming. There is also park equipment for the kiddies.
