Painted Pony Resort

The house and amenities were excellent. Beautiful scenery and dark sky for stargazing. Telescopes are available on site for bird watching - Horned Owl, Hawks and barn sparrows. Our family had an awesome visit and will return again if in the area. Note: If traveling/staying with small breed dog, maybe think about shoes to protect their feet. Walking on concrete and sharp rocks for days tore our pups feet up.

This was a wonderful place to stay!! My four siblings, our spouses and most of our kids and their spouses were there, so it was a group of 21 and there was plenty of room. The houses are lovely, the grounds are great, my 9 year old son loved seeing all the animals, the birdsong was beautiful, we all spent hours at the pool/hot tub, the night sky is awe-inspiring. Just a fantastic week together. We drove to near by hills and towns as well, but were happy to have relaxing together time in such a beautiful place. Highly recommend this!!

My husband and I had a very small intimate wedding here in 2021 and it was absolutely incredible. It was everything we could have ever imagined for our special day. The desert scenery was so beautiful and all the wildlife that passed through during our stay was INCREDIBLE. My family talks about it often and we definitely want to come back someday! Absolutely gorgeous stay! 10 bedrooms, 6.5 baths with a whopping 18 total beds. It was huge, very adequately housed our party of 9. It is smack dab in the middle of nowhere so the privacy is abundant. Being in the middle of nowhere, the wildlife is thriving. We heard coyotes, saw a big bullsnake with its babies and a handful of scorpions. About a five hour drive from Albuquerque, it was an amazing experience. The pool was heated and no worries about hottub overcrowding because there's two. Would love to come stay at the Painted Pony again!

I didn't stay here but was there for a wedding. The compound and view was amazing! The place seemed to have all essentials covered in kitchen and throughout the houses. It is very remote with a few small general stores for quick items but closest walmart was an hour away.
