Although we unfortunately had to change our travel plans and didn’t get the chance to stay at this campground, I still wanted to leave a review because of how wonderful the owner, Jax, has been. From the start, they were incredibly kind, responsive, and genuinely understanding - going above and beyond to assist us with our reservation and questions. It’s rare to come across such thoughtful hospitality, even before arriving on site. If our travels bring us back to the area in the future, this will absolutely be our first choice for a stay. Highly recommend based on the outstanding service alone!
Great place to relax and enjoy family time. Every time I’ve been, everyone staying there seems nice, especially the seasonal guests! It’s got great scenery including the orchard, and the river, and it’s dog friendly! My dog really enjoys having the space to run around! The service is spotty which is wonderful for disconnecting from the outside world. Would recommend!!
We were driving with no where to stay and it was getting dark. I wanted to get off the road as not to hit a moose or drive off a cliff. I knocked on the owner’s door as the office was closed. They were very nice even though it appeared I was interrupting their dinner. After I explained our situation and told them I was in a tent, they informed us they could not rent to people in tents due to COVID and washrooms being closed. She then asked if we had our own restroom and we do! Who want to walk to a restroom with bears around? We always bring our own and we are lucky we do. We just needed a place to be off the road and they showed a spot to stay next to the river. It was a great place and we were able to move on in the morning. We are very thankful for the Onion River campground and would d
Jax (owner), Danielle and Joe were some of the most down to earth and “real” people that I have ever met in my life. I communicated with Jax for some time prior to me coming up and all made me feel welcome and helped me get set up. I truly appreciate all that they did and would DEFINITELY stay in the same place again. I believe that most sites have both electric and water hookups. Location was very awesome… right off of US2 close to Plainfield.
Filled with rundown, poorly maintained “full season” RV’s, and residents who are drunk and disruptive. Bath house is a joke, open slat doors and half doors on the two toilet stalls. The COED shack with some water running is a joke. On the positive side, the location is incredible, hiking and walking trails are amazing. Our dogs had the time of their lives (minus the full time residents cats running in and out of the slips).
