Had a great trip. The surroundings were beautiful, the staff were super kind and helpful. The hot showers in the bathhouse were a great way to end a 3 mile hike as well! Site is serene and very quiet at night; able to have a sense of privacy while still being in a community setting. Will 100% be coming back!
Stayed at the group site. There view of the sky wasn't as good as at Cherry Springs but wasn't crowded, didn't have to worry about having a red filter on all your lights etc. We still had a great view of they sky and saw a lot until the moon cone up and washed out all but the brightest stars.
We stayed at the Lodge in September. The leaves were just starting to turn colors. It's a beautiful cabin/log house, very clean. The kitchen is stocked with everything you would need as far as utensils, cookware, and dishes. The rest of the lodge is comfortable. The area around the lodge is fenced off and has its own swings set and horseshoe pits. Lots of room for other outdoor games. The area itself is quiet and fairly remote. It is a great place to get away.
A great little campground. Quaint. Situated right along the Kettle creek. I fell asleep and woke up to the sounds of the creek babbling. Fishing is only permitted for children and those with special needs. The Susquehannock state trail runs right through the park so you can hop on and explore for as far as you want. The main loops have electric hook ups for campers and RVs. There are three more remote tenting sites directly along the creek. The park office was incredibly helpful and has plenty of resources about the nearby attractions. I didn’t have cell phone service (which helped me unplug completely!) but there are pay phones that work for local numbers in the event of an emergency.
Great state park for camping. The sites are a nice size and the bath house is nice and clean. It is also very dark and a great place for stargazing. You are out in the middle of the PA Wilds and cell service is nonexistent. If you need to get service you will need to drive at least 15 minutes to a higher point.
