Wow! SUPER BOWL SUNDAY early to avoid midday heat and I had the Riverfront Picnic site all to myself, very slow go on the trail in from Ogilby Rd through the Indian Trail pass due to winter rain runoff but doable and well worth the drive … and the sighting of the wild Buros !
Flat, featureless, free. Windy, dusty, free. I guess there are some cool hills to hike on. Might even find some gold
Decent boondocking convenient to the highway, but there are places that are more interesting. It's also pretty close to the exit for the los Algodones border crossing. Gas station with convenience store and propane nearby. I used it for an overnight so I could be at the border early
Lots of flat space if you want privacy. Hiking in the mtns is fun and rock collecting. Gold mine still operating . American Girl Mine is very popular so more people. Go two more sections north and t here are fewer people. 14 day but noone even comes around. 20 miles from Yuma but worth the drive for peace.
Love this place...been going here my whole life. Not much has changed,except now u have to pay to camp.
