Oahe Downstream Recreation Area Campgrounds #1 and #2

We stayed 3 nights in Campground #3. Outstanding camp site operated by S. Dakota Game Fish and Parks. Highly recommended. Very clean and friendly staff. Very nice modern and ADA restrooms with showers. Easy access to fishing water via boat or shoreline. Many activities to include rifle and pistol range as well as camper dump station. Only 6 miles to Ft Pierre and shopping. Only about $25/night.

Great place to camp. Hosts were very friendly. The campground bathrooms were kept clean. Nice views everywhere.

Stayed in the modern cabins, the cabin was nice very modern. The full kitchen was a huge plus. We will be staying here in the future.

We stayed 3 nights in Campground 1, the spaces are large with a big open space in the middle (so most won't have any campsite behind, unless it's on the inside curve you might be angled towards someone). It was very quiet, even on a weekend. It is September, but it's also unseasonably warm, so I wad surprised more people didn't spontaneously decide to go camping. There are a lot of large trees in the campground, and I could see a lot of straight cuts up high, so they probably proactively trim any branches that might become problems. There is a large disc golf course that starts near the campground. There are multiple dump stations. There are a few water fill stations within the campground, so if you checked the map carefully you could plan to be in a site near enough to water to refill y

This is a great place with 3 separate campgrounds. Nice and well kept. My only concern is the speeds people drive in the campground. This includes the staff. There is only one dump station with 2 spots for 200 campsites so expect to wait in line to dump.
