Northwoods Best Inn -Turtle Lake

Windows would not stay open and they kindly gave us a new room. Comfy bed. Clean room. Quet air conditioning.Friendly staff. Did not use the pool or eat breakfast there.

I have been staying at this hotel since 2012 a couple of times a year. The rooms are always clean, continental breakfast is always good and the food is always fresh. The staff have always been very polite and helpful. The pool is great to relax in. The laundry is always very convenient and reasonably priced.

I originally gave them a 4, but I'm changing it to a 1 because upon check out we were charged $15 for a Chicken Alfredo pizza we did not order. The manager told me we received a free pizza and because she removed the charge, but we never received or ordered a pizza. She told me that we were nothing but problem since we checked in. I guess because we had them to clean one of the room because the tub had black dirt and walls was cover with hair and they did not empty the garbage containers. We also cleaned the dining room because other guests did not clean up after themselves, but we were the problem.

Called twice to get an early check in. First time they said they wouldn't know until a few days before the date. Second time (day before) they said it should be fine. Showed up at noon and clerk rudely insisted they don't do early check in and no one ever told me they did. After the stay I received an email asking about my experience so I told them what happened. I got a phone call from the manager. Instead of an apology, she said I was lying, no one would have ever told me it was an option. How is that a useful business practice? Don't stay here! Hotel was nice, room was decently clean, pool was small but super warm, perfect for our littles to swim. I would have given 5 stars but I know for a 100% fact I left my relatively expensive pillow behind on the bed but they say they never found it so either housekeeping staff stole it or they don’t change the bed sheets.. on me, I know but also sucks knowing it was left there & there’s nothing I can do to retrieve it. Edit/response to owner: that’s all fine and dandy except I have video footage from my dash cam of me carrying the pillow in & it not being on the luggage cart when I load my car back up the very next morning. I’ll let it be, I guess one of your staff needed my $125 pillow more than I did.
