Northern Lights Motel

The biggest dump I've ever stayed in. Falling ceiling tiles, no handle on the toilet, carpets look like they've been around for 30 years and never cleaned. Smells dank. Plus the family that runs the place are the most unfriendly, rash, brutish folks I have ever come across. Don't waste your money. Better to sleep on the streets.

Yes, this motel is dated - which is actually kind of cool. Its like motels were when I was a kid. There is paneling (my room looked like Birch), the toilet, sink and shower being all the same color, matched (I think it was called "Salmon" back in the day). Even the lamp shades and items on the wall brought me back to the 50s and early 60s. The only thing that I would change is the carpet. It has seen better days. When writing a review, a person has to comment on the place for what it is, not compare it. I give it an excellent rating for the motel it is, a privately owned, Mom and Pop type motel. It is not the Ritz, so don't expect the Ritz. I will stay here every time I go to Presque Isle. The owner and his son are friendly, the price is fair, and they allow pets with only a $5 f

Cheapest place for weekly. Nice people but don't expect anything to be kept up. Broken light base. Told the owner and it was still not replaced 3 weeks later when I left. Toilet sticks, outdated shower. It's from the 50's. Plastic accordion door that doesn't shut on either side. Got bit by something every night I was there. Bed is rock hard.... if they put just a little bit of money to update it world be nicer.

I've stayed here twice recently in connection with a trip for an outpatient medical procedure in Presque Isle. I had stayed here years before and I knew where it was, etc. I was pleasantly surprised that it had changed hands and is nicer than before. It is now owned by a mature couple from the area who are very nice and friendly and responsible. The rooms are very clean with no odors or chipped paint and large closets. The grounds are well-kept, with several outdoor fireplace pits and covered gazebos. Rooms have great cable TV, fridges and microwaves plus FREE unlimited long-distance calls to anywhere in the US and Canada. Bathrooms are adequate and clean with plenty of hot water. The atmosphere is very safe for a person traveling alone, as I was. Close to several restaurants and

My son and I stayed here. I called ahead to check on availability and also let them know that I needed high speed internet for work and college assignments. They assured me that they just upgraded and I would be satisfied. I booked the room. We arrived that evening and checked in. I did not have any shampoo and when I asked they gave me a bottle that must of come out of another room left by someone. At least I had something to use. We got into the room and the carpet was all stained. Which is fine for the most part as I know there is a lot of traffic in and out. But when you add it all up... It turned out to be a chilly night and chilly in the room, we turned the heat up and it took over an hour for the heat to come on. I was trying to log on the internet but it would not connect.
