Great campground! No water or power hookups, but flushable bathrooms and drinkable water stations really close to each campsite. There is a really cool trail that goes from the bottom of the camp to the visitors center and a lookout point that’s part of the campground. Lots of shade and nicely wooded campground! Kids loved it and it was very quiet at night even over Memorial Day. You can frequently hear the wind going through the canyon which is cool too
The best mistake was thinking these were privative campgrounds - only to find out they are fully functioning after the spring open date! Temps were still very cool at night (29F one night) but laundry, showers, potable water were all available in addition to firewood and other supplies at the General Store ... And a nearby full service gas station that provided fuel for normal prices. Lovely hiking in the area & my first experience with international dark skies!
Very bad experience. We reached late at around 10 pm. Then we set up our tent, cooked some food and played light music to have some drinks and fun. We were not aware of the quiet time rule. At 1 am someone comes and threatens us to take to jail as we were making noise and tells he is a police officer. Disappointed, We stopped our party and went to the tent. At 8 am some lady is shouting near our tent asking us to clean our mess and calls us asshole. Then some old man comes and tells we should be ashamed of ourselves and threatens to ban us from national parks. We thought people will be lively and having fun but they were there to just sleep and cook food. If we disturbed anyone , somebody could have told us politely and we would have stopped right away. There is no view of Grand canyon too
This was a beautiful park. The north rim is not near as crowded as the others. This rim is much more wooded, less desert, and peaceful. There are several hiking trails as well. The campground was about 3/4 full, but very quiet. The sites are well spaced and private due to all the trees. There were no hookups at the time of my visit, because of the elevation the temperature was in the upper 70s during the day, and upper 40s at night which is perfect for dry camping. They had drinking water scattered throughout the park, showers, and laundry. There’s a good sized store in the park, a bit expensive because there’s not a store around. Bring your own food and gear if you don’t want to spend a lot of money. The staff was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. AT&T cell service was spotty as to be
I've camped here a couple times and hope it gets rebuilt and reopened soon. The air is cooler up there in the summer. The views are amazing. The Lodge's den and porches (the most amazing view at sunset I've ever seen) was also open to campers.
