New York Marriott East Side

I've been surprised to read the recent less than complimentary reviews of this hotel and can only say it must have gone downhill since my visit as I recall it as quite grand with a very nice room. Overall the room was clean and comfortable. My main issue was that the duvets do not have covers, just a sheet which is folded over them which I feel is not hygienic. If I had been with my partner he would have been tangled up in the sheet in no time and sleeping under the actual duvet which I don't feel is acceptable. I also had problems with wifi.||I happened to be at the hotel on the night of 9/11 and I was on the 25th floor. I stayed here for 2 nights for a conference. It appears that the lobby was undergoing major construction and the front desk was a fold out table. My room was on the 19th floor. I upgraded to a room with a view. The view ended up being a tiny window (but I guess its better than no view). The elevator was really old and scared me a little. It was tiny and slow to open. ||On a good note- I loved the smell of the toiletries. Please don't change those! The bartender was very friendly and made a good drink. The location was fantastic.||I would stay here again. Hopefully by next time construction will be done and hopefully some updating as well.

Gorgeous hotel with classy decor and upscale service. Our room was very comfortable, clean and equipped with everything we needed. Staff provided us with extra toiletries and robes upon request. We have the Elite Club membership so we had access to the private elite lounge, which was great--it's stocked with snacks beverages and they also provide meals. Only imperfection was the view from our room, which was brick wall and an alley. Otherwise, superb experience.

The hotel was easy to find and beautifully decorated. When I first arrived looking for my conference, the receptionist gave me a rude look and asked what I needed in a nasty way. I didn't pay much mind to it because I was running late. The next 3 days the staff and everyone were really nice and helpful. On the second day the conference was interrupted by a false fire alarm. Other than that my experience was good.

My hotel room was very clean and staff are very attentive if you go up to them for assistance. As mentioned in other reviews, the beds are extremely comfy, rooms are clean for the most part, and the shower pressure is superb. However, my room shower does not drain very well and there are markings that are a little odd on the shower curtain which makes me wonder how well that is cleaned. However, my room overall is in good condition.
