New Meadows River Cottages

My daughter and son-in-law were staying in #12 this past fall/winter. .. When Maine was hit with the bad winter storm that left many without power for weeks. . When I went to check on them midmorning they were huddled together on the bed under every blanket they had... No heat... No lights.. . No way to cook food. . No water... So I brought them home with me. Mind you they had already paid for the week and it was one day into that "paid for" week. Once power was restored I contacted the owners and I was told that since the owners still had expenses my daughter would not be getting her prepaid rent back or even a credit for a week... These cottages are cute but definitely cozy. The WiFi connection was weak in our cottage, but other than that we had a great experience. Having a little kitchen is a nice way to save some money when on vacation and these cottages offer much more privacy than the nearby motels at a comparable rate.

We stayed in cottage #5 for 7 months through the "off season" after we sold our house in October. In May, we had to leave because Richard needed to prepare this cottage for "high season" rental. At the last minute, Richard offered us unit #12, part of a duplex, in the back, facing the river. We were told, we could stay there through the summer while we would build our new house. We were informed, during the first month's rent of unit #12, that we had to leave "once again" after we had recently moved our belongings from #5 to #12. Their reason, they really needed to collect the "high season" rate. So, once again, we had to prepare to move after we were told we could stay! All Richard could offer was "well, you didn't have to pay a security deposit or sign a lease". We left cottage #5 immacu

what a relaxing getaway! the staff made you feel right at home and the cottages were extremely clean. we look forward to finding a reason to go back and visit.
