Don’t be worried when you see the unpaved road working it’s way to the entrance. You will be pleasantly surprised! Lots of activities including an indoor pool ( a bit on the chilly side) but we were able to exercise in it and warm up on the deck! We even had some great table tennis matches. It was very quiet and relaxing and enjoyed an after dinner cup of coffee in one of the many sitting areas. Drove a short distance to New London for both lunch (great pizza at Pizza Chef) and dinner at Peter Christian’s Tavern. Now a word about our luscious breakfast. Patrick, the Innkeeper Extraordinaire, was a delight and the breakfast menu for the next day was posted the day before! The sheets were very comfortable, however, the mattress might need a foam topper or a replacement as it was very bouncy.
Wonderful place! Well-decorated and full of thriving plants. Bathrooms and bedrooms stocked with everything you could possibly need or want. The site is beautiful to walk around, and the pool is amazing. Breakfast was my favorite part: guests come downstairs to tables already prepared for each party, and are served their choice of sweet or savory options from a handmade menu. The windows in this dining room give you a beautiful mountain-top view while you sip your coffee. A perfect balance of cozy and grand.
We went as a family group (14 adults and 6 children) and the space was ideal |But|We knew there was no laundry facility - a bit of a problem for towels, but we coped.|The kitchen was great for preparing meals but the dishwasher had a sign ‘do not use’. When we contacted the caretaker we were told there was a glass washer that we could use -this had one tray and was totally unsuitable for plates, cutlery etc - we ended up washing dishes by hand, an onerous task when there are 20 people, no drying cloths and we’re on vacation for goodness sake, we would never have booked a place with no dishwasher. Bad.|A lot of the external doors did not lock, we were not overly concerned until 2 hikers walked in the door one day to look around. Luckily 2 of our party had just returned to the property.|The
Traveled over 3000 miles to visit family, originally chose this location due to proximity and reviews. So glad we did, Patrick immediately made us feel welcome and gave us a tour of the location. Stayed in the Library room which is in the 1790 farm house portion. Comfortably decorated, with creatively transformed with an attached bathroom with shower. Shower is RV shower sized, for a large person is a slight challenge, but the luxury bath products and shower heads, make it much easier to deal with. The breakfasts are not to be missed, Patrick is not only the Inn Keeper, he is professional gourmet chef. The location makes you feel your are truly secluded from crowds. The common areas were delightfully decorated and had self serve coffee, tea and hot cocoa available. Indoor pool, outd
Incredibly charming inn, with a very nostalgic and local feel. Patrick was very welcoming and his cooked to order breakfast was delicious. ||The grounds are extensive and I enjoyed sitting out on the deck watching the stars after swimming in the large indoor pool.||The common areas are incredibly comfortable and I read a book for several hours on one of the couches enjoying the peace and quiet.||My room was large (the library suite), with a comfy bed.||Definitely would recommend this as an "experience" stay, and hope to come back in the winter during ski season to enjoy it again.||Thanks Patrick!
