Nevada Nordic

Nevada Nordic is the heart of cross-country skiing on Tahoe’s north and east shore. More than just a place to ski, it’s a true community organization that supports everything from youth programs and racing to adult clinics and casual recreational skiing. The atmosphere is welcoming and inclusive, whether you’re brand new to Nordic skiing or have been doing it for decades. The terrain they work with is well suited to a wide range of abilities, and the focus is clearly on participation, technique, and long-term enjoyment of the sport rather than gatekeeping or exclusivity. I’m very grateful this exists. Beautiful, easy to access, great trails. The folks who do the grooming are nice and give updates on the conditions and trail quality through the Nordic Pulse app. Very useful to know what it’s like before driving up.

Having nordic ski trails on this side of the lake it huge! The best part is that it's open to the public. The Nevada Nordic nonprofit organization is doing a great service!

Nevada Nordic is a local gem! Located high above Lake Tahoe, they are blessed with amazing (and lots) of snow. The trails are great and maintained every day. This is a world class ski area with probably the best views in the world. Best part, it’s free! But please make a donation, the amazing crew works hard to keep the trails in great shape for all to enjoy.

Awesome community-groomed xc ski trail system! Groomed for both skate skiing and striding. They also groom a snowshoe trail to chickadee ridge. Other resorts in the area charge $45+ for trails like these but these don't require a pass (plus they have some of the best views in Tahoe!). The nonprofit Nevada Nordic grooms these trails with donations, so visit their website and chip in if you can if you enjoy these trails!
