Just got home from a week at Nelson’s Resort. Rented the Phoenix cabin. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, large living/dining/kitchen area, fully furnished. Very comfortable. Only drawback: it’s about a quarter mile walk from the parking area. My wife is handicapped, but they do have two golf carts available to use if no one else is using them. Three days of guided fishing with Rick Ferris, a great guy! He put us on fish each day. Shore lunch was provided two days (would have been three days but we requested sandwiches the third day so we could spend more time fishing). All three meals were delicious, Rick is a very good cook. They have a great restaurant and bar at the lodge with fantastic meals. All in all, we had a great week. I highly recommend Nelson’s Resort if you’re looking for a great
Great place for a fishing getaway! Service is excellent, food and atmosphere is great! Nice bar and property. Fishing Guides are knowledgeable, friendly and make a great shore lunch!
We had an amazing time at Nelson’s Resort. We did a fly in with Brian on his float plane which was an incredible experience - I highly recommend it!! The rooms/cabins were a little dated and very simple - but we didn’t come here for the lux, it was about fishing and being in nature and that is what we got at Nelson’s. We used their fishing guide, Rick, who brought a wealth of knowledge about where the fishing spots where, what fish were active in certain areas for this time of the year, what lures/bait to use and we had great success! He cooked up some AWESOME shore lunches from our catches. And we were able to have the cook at the resort also make meals out of our fish. The cooks, by the way, were AMAZING. Every single dish was absolutely fantastic - so delicious! And the service you get
An older resort on a beautiful lake with three rivers to also fish and access to another lake. Pros: Very friendly and kind staff. Restaurant on site. Cabin was clean. Quiet at night. Very good dinner at restaurant. Cons: No parking near cabin so we had to walk a distance and my husband is disabled. Our microwave was broken so we had to unplug it after each use or it would continuously beep. None of the staff seemed to know where to fish. I think this was so people would buy their guide service. People with cabins on beach took the beach over and it didn't feel right using it.
Went here after being recommended by a local. When we walked in we were greeted by a seemingly grumpy lady behind the bar and had to stand and wait for 15 minutes in the middle of the room. This would have been understandable if they were busy... but there was 5 tables in the entire restaurant. Overall food was quite overpriced. My boyfriend had a chicken sandwich which had no flavor and fries were frozen. My salad was fine, but comparable to the same thing from Culver's. Our grasshopper tasted like blended ice (not cream).
