Murphys Historic Hotel

Great place for Christmas time, beautiful town, decorations everywhere, good food, family owned place, old fashioned manners with kindness, really cool place to meet up with family and friends. Was considering not reviewing to keep this place a secret as much as possible because this is such a great place, but you really should take a trip and visit this town, you will have a good time unless you're trying not to. Try the Filet mignon, go medium and have a great night.

Had a great time watching the game My Wife And enjoying top-notch drinks at the bar. Wait staff was impeccable as well as their food. I got the 10 oz filet mignon, and was very satisfied with the cook. Its a must have if you're going to enjoy a meal here.

My comment: Went on Christmas Day. At the entrance there were clearly visible Visa and contactless stickers. I even asked for confirmation because there was an ATM inside. Despite this, they did not accept phone/contactless payments and only wanted cash. In 2025 this is unacceptable. Ended up leaving.||For future customers: if a place shows contactless/Visa stickers, you are entitled to rely on that, payment issues are not the customer’s responsibility. Very poor experience.||Poor owner comment: We accept credit cards … nowhere on site does it say we accept contactless payments…. you are a trolling, lying idiot! Hope you had tubesteak for Christmas dinner!||Reality: Visa/contactless stickers indicate acceptance of modern credit card payments, including phone payments. My review was factual

Cool historic hotel in a charming town in a beautiful part of the state. The restaurant is fantastic- we sat outside which I preferred to the indoor dining room. Nice menu, excellent execution on the dishes. Walking into the bar makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time to the 1880’s. It’s very rustic. The finishes could use an update, or not. It’s charming either way and an approachable venue- no one puts on airs here. Very nice staff. Definitely stop by and have breakfast or lunch and take a walk through the bar.

The worst lunch I’ve had in a long time!!! Went to enjoy a birthday lunch with friends.. So disappointed. Service was bad, drinks were disgusting. Asked for a Moscow mule, got a vodka drink with Olive juice …🤢 They attempted to make a second drink, still didn’t get it right. Food was average, butternut squash soup was awful!!! Tasted like it was out of a can.. My husband couldn’t eat it… My friends French onion soup was disappointing… Patty melt was average… I sure hope they can learn from this day.. Food tastes like it’s from Sysco, frozen items… So sad 😞 The worst part is, that the workers were very rude…waiters and owners… They seemed miserable.. Hopefully the hotel can find better staff and help… They need a revamp!!!
