Mt. Angel Abbey Guest House

I spent one week there for private individual retreat. Great place for quiet prayer and recollection. I wrote a lot when I'm there. Food is very very good. Room and common spaces are well appointed and comfortable. The monks are friendly and happy group. Enjoyed morning Mass with them in the church each day.

What an absolutely beautiful and peaceful place. My husband and I went on our first retreat here and it was so lovely. I was sad to leave. While the rooms have heat for cold weather, there is no A/C, which made it a little too warm and stuffy since we're having some of the hottest days of the year. We barely spent time in the room, however, and other areas in the building have A/C. We loved our experience.

Peaceful, nourishing and friendly hospitality all around. My room was clean, comfortable and quiet. I can't wait to visit again!

Very good experience at the first visit (vegetarian), but the second time my choice was not really a success. Cod may not be the best choice for a Thai fish dish because it gets dry and hard if cooked even just minutes longer than needed. Cat fish or other more oily fish might work better. However, the pork stew was tasty and perfectly soft consistency.

What an amazing place! When I arrived I had no idea what to expect. The monks and staff at the Abby were both kind and welcoming. They made no attempt to be pushy and simply extended an invitation to rest. I personally joined the monks in prayer and really enjoyed my whole experience. If you are looking for a place to find rest and sanctuary, I cannot recommend the Abby enough!
