Mountaineer Motel

This motel is like many old motels on Rt 55 that were built before Interstate 68 bypassed much of the traffic out of the area. The receptionist was very polite, but you have to call a phone number listed on the door after hours to get him to come to the office. The room was comfortable but the carpet was worn. The bed was comfortable but somewhat low to the floor. The bathtub was large. The room had a microwave and a refrigerator. The room does not have a thermostat, and it appears that the heating or cooling is set in the central office. The room remained very warm on a very cold night. The television internet was good, and the internet, while slow, was good for an isolated area.||||Word of caution: The next morning we drove to Morgantown, WV, and we did not see a single hotel fif

I am a travel nurse and I am use to chain hotels hilton etc. And was very disappointed when I checked in this motel...matress was on the floor carpet was filty . Everyday I felt sick from the carpet the matress was covered in stains I had to purchase a matress cover.. however once I did that and cleaned daily for a week it became alot better except that filty carpet needs to be torn out bugs ..pros...free laumdry. Dollar store very close..Rates are very reasonable..my room even had a kitchen which allowed me to meal prep . My Sister stayed in a diff. Unit no carpet no stove .much cleaner so it all depends what room Mike is a bit different however very kind man and he works with traverlers..I would stay again just different Unit.

It was 1:30 am and all the regular hotels by the highway were booked. Mike was nice enough to accommodate us and allow our dogs. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It's not a place everyone would feel absolutely awesome about to be frank but if you are like me and have lived a little and know how to take care of yourself then you will see it for what it is..a clean place to hang your hat. The door had 1 janky lock and we did put furniture against it and I am glad we did because as someone said a man tried to wiggle handle during morning hours but when I yelled he said "sorry wrong room" and went away. We go to WV every labor day to ride our bikes. Usually we camp. This year we decided to rent some rooms. If you are used to a Hilton or a chain hotel, you will be out of place. Rooms were clean and water got hot. That's all we asked for. Bonus there is a Dollar General right down the street that has everything you need. Additionally Mike is nice and accommodating. I couldn't find the key in my room. I called and someone came very quickly to deliver it.

I was a long term guest of Mike’s at the motel and I will say his hospitality is unmatched. For anyone who is needing a stay and is here for work this is the place to go. Mike offers very reasonable rates for long term stays and treats his guests right.
