Motel 6 Putnam, CT

This was the only place available during the most recent blizzard, and I needed a place to stay for work the following day. The entire building should be burned to the ground. The place smells of cigarettes, and mildew masked by overpowering chemicals that will leave you with a headache. No signage to get to the second floor, I just randomly opened a door to a stairwell that was covered in stink bugs and had a hole in the wall. The bed was uncomfortable, sheets were gross, I didn't dare to look at the towels. Opened up the closet door to hang my jacket, no hangers, and the pole was broken. Pro tip: bring your own blanket so you can burrito yourself from the overall disgust (then burn the blanket). The beds are really high and hard to get into especially for disabled people. We had to purchase a foot stool. The hall way smells really bad like cigarettes and the room walls are paper thin. You can hear everything from all rooms when walking down the hallway. The beds were really comfortable and room was very clean and smelled like bleach. Overall it was a good visit.

WORST experience I’ve ever had at a hotel. Deadbolt did not lock. Light fixture missing cover. Sink cracked. Room stunk like wet dog, cigarette, weed. Sheets smelled like body odor. Floor was sticky. Hallway stunk like an old ashtray, weed and mildew or mold. There was no breakfast and just a coffee machine with no supplies. Majority of the people there looked like they lived there. The cost was JACKED way up because of events in the area that weekend. Contacted guest relations and they did give a SMALL refund of maybe 10%. Absolutely not acceptable.

Positive: The staff who I interacted with were awesome. Its a Motel 6 off the highway in a small town so I already had estimation it would be more of the remote feel and that was fine for me. The staff attended to all calls and friendly. Was quiet and safe Negative: Nothing to dislike per se but it is an older building and the door had issues at times along with carpet being old and wet from rain.

We were only looking for a place to stay one night as we were in town for a wedding. Location was great and easy to find. Our room seemed clean but there was a slight smell of urine. It was stronger in the bathroom. The remote to the tv was broke and duct taped. You had to monkey around with it to get it to work. There was dog hair all over the one comforter on the extra bed.There were no shampoo or conditioner in the shower nor a coffee pot in the room. Even tho it says they had coffee in the lobby no one ever made any and the pot wasn’t even on it so any could be made. We did not have any bath towels in our room so we grabbed a couple off the cart that was in the hall. After a few minutes the housekeeping came to our door to reprimand us for taking them.
