Motel 6 Oriskany, NY

This place will likely be the all time winner for ratio of Motel Room Price < to > Level of Crappiness I wouldn't even care about the general shabbiness, dirty floor, broken shower, TV... lack of bathroom light... I just don't want to overpay for it. If this place is $50, I'm not here right now! All that would have remained is a fond memory of the nice turtles and the brilliantly empty weird Lynchian surroundings... ~BUT~ Be a decent human motel proprietor and don't ever charge anyone more than $50 for these most basic of accommodations. We need all strata of motel in this world. From mega-posh to corrugated tin shack, they all have a place. They must, however, be priced proportionately. This motel needs some serious cleaning. While the room was clean enough, the hallways were disgusting. There was a greasy food smell in the hallway and the carpets had not been cleaned recently. there were many stains and ground in dirt in the hallways beyond the lobby. the staircase used to get to the second floor was filthy. I mean filthy.||The person who checked me in was very nice and i appreciated his recommendation for dinner, though this location is near absolutely NOTHING. Nothing. Did I mention nothing was nearby? ||Run away from here. Until they get better air filtering and new carpet throughout, go somewhere else!

This is NOT a Motel 6. The Motel 6 chain ceased ownership of this property in Sept 2024. We made a reservation on 8/18/25 for 9/9/25 and upon arriving found out it was not a Motel 6 and had not been removed from the website despite being not affiliated with Motel 6 for over a year. The guy at the front desk of the current place (“Hotel Oriskany”) was nice enough and matched the rate and didn’t charge us for our dogs, but said we needed to call Motel 6 to cancel so we didn’t get charged by them. 45 min later after speaking to 5 people on the phone and being out on hold multiple times (and even being somehow transferred from Motel 6 corporate to the front desk at Hotel Oriskany which is supposedly “not Motel 6”!) we still could not accomplish a cancelation. Nope not a place to stay. The room had no carpet which is always a red flag for me. The stairs, which we had to take because there is no elevator, we’re filthy. There is no light or easily accessible plug in on the night stand to charge your electric items. The handy-cap parking is not easily seen so people without handicap park in them and parking is a mess with only a long parking-lot which is at the opposite end of the entrance because there is only one door for one of the wings. The bathroom may have been clean but the fixtures where is such disrepair that you could not tell. The inside of the door has duck tape on it. This might be the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Before even setting foot inside, the garbage can outside the front door was overflowing with trash. The lobby has some nice flooring, and that's where the compliments end. They had turtles randomly in tanks at the front desk, which was weird. We were given a handicapped bathroom without asking if that was okay, which actually made things more difficult with our small child. In the bathroom was a spider, no exaggeration, the size of a quarter. The covers on the bed were mismatched, and the air machines in use all night made noise. Nobody at the front desk as we checked out. (I'm not much of a complainer, look at most of my reviews on here. I do way more positive than negative.)
