Midway Motel

Honestly a lovely little motel. We were very pleasantly surprised!. The owners were SO sweet and accomodating and for the price, the room was very nice. They had bottles of cold water upon check in, and even some snack size Hershey's. They did their best to make us feel welcome! Our room was spartan, but very clean, with a fridge, AC and microwave. We had low expectations when we booked it, based on the price, but we really enjoyed our stay and felt safe. Don't be fooled into thinking it's a mistake to book here!

Nice and quite motel tucked away in the friendly midwestern town in Guthrie Center, Iowa. The owners are the nicest people. I highly recommend staying at Midway Motel.

Room was clean. Bed was extremely comfortable, and I slept well during my 3 night stay. Woman at front desk was very nice. TV had an enormous number of channels. Free bottled water. If you’re driving on I80 between Des Moines and Omaha and looking for a place to spend a night, this is a great choice despite being a bit of a detour from the interstate.

a bit out of the way from I80 but the room was nice. The owners are working to upgrade an older motel but there are still a few deficiencies. I was disappointed to find the new shower had no water. The room was comfortable, tv, fridge with freezer and microwave were all new.

2025. Stayed here two nights while visiting relatives in Guthrie Center. Have stayed here in past before current owners and remodel after storm damage. The Good: Low price, has fridge, microwave, wifi, desk with power, walk in shower, good towels and face cloths, comfortable beds, place to hang clothes, room mirror, heat and cooling wall unit. The Bad: Bathroom, no counter space, no bathroom venting except opening the bathroom window, only overhead light, no light over mirror so shaving in shadow difficult, toilet paper was tissue paper thin needed to fold into many layers so pee and poop did not come through to hand when wiping, Sleeping Area: The TV has many channels, but controller for Direct TV stations takes a lot of time getting a channel you want.
