Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Midland

I stayed at this location one night for a business trip, paying about $64, or $70 including taxes. For a person used to staying at hotels in this price range, this hotel was a breath of fresh air. It is one of the nicest hotels I've stayed at for under $100. The bed was clean, and the bathroom was spotless. There were no noticable scuff marks on the walls, and the furniture seemed to be fairly new. The room was small, being able to fit a queen size bed, and not much else. However, I was able to get all of my work equipment in, of which I brought in about 300 pounds, and still have room to move around. The elevator and luggage cart were invaluable in helping me move everything in, which are uncommon for hotels at this price range. The tv, however, wasn't high quality. Internet was fast at a

Good location. SW Midland. Right next to a Walmart and other shops including a barber. Good breakfast with eggs, sausages, waffles, yogurt, and other standard staples. Clean rooms. Nice staff. When we stayed there the hotel was still undergoing a renovation. We stayed in a renovated room which was very nice. Although, there are no more closets, only a series of hooks. That means there are no irons or ironing boards either.

The hotel makes a good first impression from the outside. We stayed on the second floor, where the hallway carpets were noticeably cleaner than the filthy ones downstairs. The elevator was slow and had an unpleasant odor.||Our room was a decent size, and the carpet appeared relatively clean. However, it’s clear housekeeping only does the bare minimum—there were candy wrappers under the bed and behind the loveseat. Outlet placement was inconvenient. There was no outlet on the left side of the bed, which made things difficult since I use a CPAP machine and usually sleep on that side. Swapping sides was uncomfortable. The room was nice, and clean. The only issue I had with the room was that the bathtub looked grimy, like the handle for the faucet looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly. The main issue we had was staff. The person who checked us in should get a refresher. When checking us in she announced our room number. I've worked in hotels over the years and I'm a well versed traveler. That is a huge no-no for guest safety is to say what room number they're staying at. She could had easily opened up the card holder and said "there's your room number you're on the first floor." And when checking out the staff member couldn't had been bothered to leave the back office - we had a question about something and tried asking but she just waved us away telling us to put our keys in the bucket.
