Meraz Cove

Cute little cove good for throwing rocks in the water. I went to Meraz cove with my kids on a camping trip in late October. We hiked down to the waterfront and spent a couple of hours throwing rocks in the water and digging in the mud. The water was cold and muddy so we didn’t go swimming but we had a great time. On the shore we found the concrete foundation of an old building. There were posts in the ground like there used to be a pier there, a couple of eroded bricks, and ancient steel spikes. It made me wonder what used to be there because now there is nothing.

During the week this place is quiet and serene and peaceful. On the weekends, the locals and this photographer think everybody’s campsite is open range. These characters showed up one Saturday afternoon and hung out around my campground for a couple hours. I find that just plain rude.

Planted the flag and named it in 2019 so that others may find and enjoy this beautiful and secluded place (including other Meraz families). Fish present are bluegill, carp, and cats. Water depth in the picture is about 10 feet in the center to a maximum of about 35 feet at the mouth. Watch for rattlesnakes and garters, and also skunks; those smelly striped badgers steal food. Please pick up your fish hooks and pack out your trash.

True to fish in this area, was really a good spot. A line camping spot though it's perfect.

Water level very low still enjoyed my stay there been there before caught more and bigger on other trips
