A hidden gem. When you pull through the tunnel & come out on the other side to a green, park-like area, boat launch, & parking lot it's a surprise. The campsites are decently sized n run along either side on the single lane road that leads back to a single, large, group campsite. Sites have a picnic table, fire ring, and standing grill box. One side of the road is waterfront but all sites have a view of the River. There's a water pump & 2 port-a-pots mid-camp & a single Handicap latrine at the boat launch parking lot, all were very clean when we were there. Just on the other side of the tunnel before you come in is a local that sells firewood n will deliver it to your site for a fair price. This is my 3rd yr camping here with our Boy Scouts & we always have had a positive experience. Do no

It's on the river. It's quiet and very pretty this time of year. There is potable water by a hand pump for cooking and cleaning just bring something to put the water in. We used a empty 5 gallon water bottle. We're on the group camp site that can fit 30 people there is only 15 of use so there is a lot of space. The single camp sites are nice to. There are sites with small campers on it and still plenty of room.

Nice place to camp. There are trains on both sides of the Potomac river so if you’re good with that then you’re set. Camp sites are close so your neighbors are everything. Restrooms are clean. Some campsites are better than others you will have to gauge for yourself. Well worth the adventure. Second time here. Will be back.

McCoy's Campground was a good visit. I only gave it 4 stars because it is a little less supervised than I would like. Now it was just my friend and I this time around so that wasn't a problem. Its so far off the beaten path that it has the feel of a more local hangout spot than anything so I dont know that I would bring the family. Couple that with the port a pots which are not a family favorite. But just a couple of guys it was fine. It is really a beautiful site with an amazing trail alongside the C&O Canal, you could walk for hours...days really. We only did 8 miles that day. Overall I recommend it for groups and/or multiple families who gather and camp together. And of course groups of guys or ladies who camp together. Not high on my solo family campsite list but still good. Beautif

Great campsites on the bank of the Potomac and right next to the C&O canal towpath. $10 a night, porta potties and water are provided. A picnic table , fire pit and charcoal grill in each campsite. So much wildlife, owls, woodpeckers, cormorants. Even a boat launch. There's a sweet couple who sell firewood and deliver it to your campsite, look for the phone number before the entrance.
