Makanda Inn

Had a lovely weekend stay here in late February. The cabin (Indigo) was super cozy and we LOVED the soaking tub. We also enjoyed all the touches from the natural building materials to the linens to the attention to dietary needs for breakfasts. Its perfectly situated for a weekend outdoors whether you like hiking or a wine trail. Be sure to check out the boardwalk in Makanda and if you are looking for dinner the Gianty City Lodge had great food too!

My husband and I visited the inn during the off season, and it was amazingly tranquil and peaceful. We came to town to do some of the wine trail and enjoyed the personal touches and social elements of staying at the inn rather than at a hotel. We stayed in the larger suite, the Black Walnut room and it was the perfect size. We enjoyed chatting with other guests, all similar couples looking for a quiet trip, and enjoyed the evenings chatting in the common areas. We hope to be back soon!

The hosts, Paula and James, were wonderful! Due to our schedule, we were not able to spend much time at the inn or partake in the breakfast, but our brief stay was very comfortable. The padding under the carpet seems extra plush. The bedsheets were very nice. I didn’t care for the pebble flooring in the shower, but the shower head was great. It’s a quiet location for a getaway.

Had a wonderful time at the Makanda Inn and the area around it. The lodge and rooms have a lovely mix of modern and rustic elements. Paula and James were so professional, friendly, and caring. We were also entertained by Maggie, their adorable pet! I highly recommend it and can’t wait to return!

We had a wonderful, relaxing 2-night stay at Makanda Inn. The breakfast both mornings was delicious. The Inn is close enough to wineries and Carbondale if looking for things to do. Paula and James were great hosts!
