First time ever staying at this hotel! I've never had such an amazing experience elsewhere with hotel staff. Had an issue with the first Rome that I was originally assigned to so without hesitation. However , I received another room that exceeded my expectations. The 2bedroom suite king and queen were great! The hotel being pet friendly is a plus for me and I love all the amenities that they have! One thing that I didn't like is cure beach is about thirty eight minutes away. It's not a big deal to me(location) because I'm not willing to sacrifice comfort over close proximity to everything that I wanted to visit on vacation. The bands are super comfortable. The suite i has with one king and one queen bedroom were great
Was pleasantly surprised at the room being clean and well laid out. I got in late after dinner, showered and went to bed. It was unseasonably warm so the heat didn’t cycle on until after midnight. When it did it sounded like an unbalanced washing machine in spin cycle. I got up 3 times to get the unit completely turned off. Luckily it was a warmer night and sleeping without heat wasn’t terribly uncomfortable. I found it hard to believe the staff hadn’t been made aware of the issue. I’m sure the occupants in the next room heard it. On checkout I informed the front desk staff and she made a note but didn’t seem very surprised and didn’t offer any apology.
The hotel rooms are old and dank. The room was large enough. HUGE cockroach came out from under refrigerator. Gross. The TV was SMALL and awful remote control. The free breakfast was just minimum but adequate for a quick grab & go. The area is fine during the day - I'd beware after dark. I overheard a fellow customer telling someone their car was stole from the hotel parking lot. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I wouldn't return.
Positive: It had a bed. Negative: The staff was extremely rude, room had a very weird smell to which made us have to wash EVERYTHING we had which was $--- I couldn't afford. We were next to an extremely rambunctious room full of wicked drunk Marines and were told to deal with it.
Very friendly and helpful staff, fairly quiet, close to restaurants, not too far away from downtown and beach area, decent breakfast (waffles), clean rooms and common areas. In additions, kitchenettes are a plus as well as separate living room and sleeping area. Have to admit that I was ready to go elsewhere after reading a few fairly recent reviews about the hotel on the Choice Hotels web site. But my fears were unfounded and I thought this was just what I needed as I prepared for and race Ironman 70.3 North Carolina. Just a few negatives - the room had a kind of musky odor I think. But I didn't see any mold or damp/wet areas. Got used to somewhat. The bathtub needs a better non skid surface as I found it to be a bit slippery and had to hold the handrail when getting in the tub for
