MainStay Suites Port Saint Joe South

First of all I would like to thank April Murray for her commendable hospitality. She was awesome and made sure my needs were answered. Morning shift staff was rude. The white lady with a bun on head was rude and showed discrimination towards me just because I was not white and blonde. I stayed for 5 nights. Breakfast was included in my stay. They were short on supplies and when asked can I get yogurt they td me we are out and didn't receive any supplies. This was a complete lie because I saw them putting yogurt out for only their favorite people. April was the only person who was very nice, kind and attentive towards what I needed. The white lady this morning was over the phone with someone and waved a finger towards me telling me to wait a minute, I literally waited for her to ask me

The wake-up alarm from another guest next door to me went off at 4:30 a.m. and the guest hit the snooze button several times. This happened two days in a row. Front desk assistant offered to alert the guest of this disturbance, but the next morning the alarm clock went off again at 5:30 a.m. and did so repeatedly until my own alarm went off at 6:00 a.m. I am a returning guest (every other week since July/August 2025), and I normally love the variety and abundance of the continental breakfast, but this morning there were no forks, eggs or biscuits to go with the sausage gravy. I used my knife to eat a sausage and boiled egg. Not getting enough rest the last few days probably contributed to my impatience this morning.

Positive: The young lady at the front desk was so very nice and accommodating. I wish I had her name. She was the picture of customer service. I thought all of this upon checking in. She even called our room when I had left my phone in the lobby. Negative: ""

Room was very large and had a small kitchenette. The bed was nice. The sofa was a little old and worn and stained. The bathroom was nice but my shower had trouble getting hot water. My first day I could not get hot water. The second day I could. Not sure why but there was no housekeeping service during my stay. The complimentary breakfast seewas very good with the make your own waffles. With the exception for the hot water issue it was a nice hotel.

We seen bugs in our room (roach). Also, I reserved 2 nights and also paid for the insurance incase I had to cancel. My don & his wife came down with the flu & we had to cancel our last day. When checking out that morning at 6, the clerk wanted to charge me an early checkout fee. And then would not cancel my second night even though I had purchased the insurance for cancellation.
