Mad River Mountain

We had a great experience here on February 1 (Sunday) we arrived around 12 and there weren’t many lines. We purchased an epic pass. It was the first time trying this. The staff was super helpful. We got the kids (12 and 14) lessons for their first time skiing and they thought it was worth it. I’m glad they took lessons. The were ready to do the green trails confidently. It was my birthday and one of the lift attendants noticed when she scanned my pass and then programmed the scanner to sing me a special song every-time I boarded the lift. It was so fun. The facilities were nice and clean. Great experience.

This ski resort was perfect for my family and I. We went mid Feb 2026 and were able to ski ~20 runs in a day because it wasn’t crowded (we could have skied more but we were tired). 3/4 of our group are beginner (we only ski every 5-10 years) just needing green and blue runs, which is what most of the mountain is. Our fourth in the group said the trade off for less advanced slopes for less people was worth it. Lift operators were very friendly. This mountain may be a little tough if it’s your first time skiing/snowboarding - the slopes to get off the lift would be tricky for a first timer. But if you’ve skied before and are looking for a smooth experience without the price tag or crowds of Colorado, this is the place to be. I would love to come back here for another season.

Took a large group of teens to Midnight Madness and everyone had a great time. Bought our tickets online $29 for a lift ticket and $12 for rental. Everything went smoothly for check in, but after that there is NO guidance, including how to put on your gear or signage to guide you to a practice area. Luckily, we had two in our group who had skiied before and they showed us how to put on equipment and gave us some instructions to get us going. Otherwise, we would have been lost at how to get started and navigate the trails. Two tips are - be prepared at the top of the easy (Sundowner) hill ski lift for a 45° incline getting off the lift. Everyone was falling, and a few people got hurt. There is nothing waring you that's there, and it's many peoples' first 'real' hill. Also food and drinks

Literally tracked how long I waited for a rental, it took 1 hour, 33 minutes and 45 seconds. Got here at 9:17, about to hit the slopes after all this waiting around 11:18. I got here 17 minutes after open, but the lines for passes and rentals are so absurdly slow. They staff with a few 16-17 year olds, have only two registers to check people in, it’s insane. Oh, and the “lodge” is just a few card tables and fold up chairs made of plastic in a warehouse. No wonder vails stock is crashing. Staff this place correctly on a weekend, put some effort into the facilities, it’s insane. I haven’t even gotten to a lift yet and I’m never returning to this dump. Snow trails any day over this. Unbelievable

My first time snowboarding the bunny slope wasn't too steep or fast perfect for beginners. I was snowboarding with my grandson who is seven and it was his first time, the people were great at rental booths in fitting us with boots and helmets and the proper size boards . The people on the slopes were patient with everyone waiting for conveyor and the more experienced people helped beginners. Overall loved the experience and will return next year .
