One of our favorite dispersed campgrounds. Beautiful scenery all around. Campsites are located along both sides of the road, you can follow the road to the end. There are areas to accommodate larger groups as well. Lower Glady/Forest Rd 505 gives you access to the Appalachian Trail through the Monongahela National Forest from the parking lot as you enter the campground.
Great fishing and camping great place to stay to get off your phone for a weekend
I absolutely love boondocking here. There are several campsites spaced far apart as well as clusters for larger groups. The weather is almost always mild, and the scenery is wonderful. I love finding a spot on the creek and just chilling in solitude all weekend. It is so peaceful. I've never had any problems with anyone down here, and I've been here several times. Elkins is a little bit of a drive, so make sure you have what you need. There is also zero cell service anywhere near here. Camping is free, so it tends to be super busy around the holidays. My favorite times are early to mid-May and after Labor Day. There are 2 pit toilets at either end of the road, I would not recommend pitching your tent close to one in the middle of summer. Lots of hiking, fishing, bike riding, and most thin
Beautiful, tranquil, private spot on the Cheat River. There is a vault toilet. No showers/water. No fee, permit or reservations required to stay. Just pull in an already established camp spot. Can stay for up to 14 days. Quiet and very dark at night. Can hear and see the river from most camp spots. No cell service. No trash service. Take trash with you when you leave. Keep Monongahela Forest Beautiful! 🍁🌲☀️🌊
Have camped here for over 25 years. My favorite place to spend time with my family relaxing. Nice River and great trails. No tables need to bring you own. Only one toilet as you first come to the camp site so bring your own with a shower tent works out great. We take our dogs with us all the time. And you will need to bring your fire for the camp site. We also take bikes for the kids to ride there is no playground but we take corn hole, lasso golf and football to keep them busy. We camp in the fall of 2022 and it was awesome leaves were changing and the nights were cool so a nice camp fire was great. The air felt great and smelled so clean.
