Middle Creek Lake is a nice, smaller lake that feels pretty tucked away and wooded. There are a couple different ways to access it: on the south side off Metcalf Rd. you’ll find a small access point with just a few pullouts, good for quick stops. On the north side (also from Metcalf Rd.) there’s a larger mowed park area with a boat launch, bathroom, and some camping sites. A road runs west toward the dam with a few more pullouts, which makes for a pleasant drive or spots to sit and enjoy the water. Overall it’s a solid little lake if you’re looking for something quiet and local, though you can pretty much always hear traffic noise from US-69, which takes away a bit from the sense of seclusion.

We just stayed a couple of nights due to the weather, but it is always a wonderful place to chill and enjoy the view and nature sounds! It's primitive and free to camp. There is an inclosed bathroom area. Just be kind and respectful to pick up after yourself! Leave it nice for the next people!

The Lake is gorgeous. I stopped by on a road trip. I'm not sure if the lake is part of the Rutlader Wildlife Area or not....but they are pretty close together and both offer photo opportunities. There are also some dirt roads that give you access around the shores of the lake. It seemed super quiet and bereft of people when I was there.

Free! Primitive! Almost perfect!! I needed a quiet peaceful place to camp and recharge my soul. This is the spot. It’s almost 100% because I love to swim and really needed to get away from a long winter; swimming is very primal for me. It’s 4.11.23 I’m aware now that I’d need to go more south to find warmer swimmable water so I went east toward the Ozark lakes 😅. There I found signs warning for ‘swim at your own risk, they do not check water for bacteria or water quality, warning for mud that could be a risk’ it was $10 a night cash or check however there was another camper and the experience became strange to say the least. I thought I’d have a better chance entering the water from the boat slant in the morning after, however it was -safer- to leave; so I quietly packed (@2am) and drove b

The campground is taken care of. Like anyplace the care taken ebbs and flows. Sometimes really good...sometimes barely adequate. The keyholes to the west down middle creek road are filling up with garbage, old tires, and lawn trash. It's getting very hard to look at. Might as well turn it into a landfill.6 months later nobody taking care of it again.
