We’ve lived just down the road from this campground for years, but this is the first year that we purchased a season pass so that we could use the boat launch to launch our kayaks. I’m getting too old to carry them very far… We’ve been so impressed with the quality of service and the quality of facilities here that a season pass is now a permanent line item of our family budget. Not only are the staff incredibly helpful and friendly, but what I didn’t realise (until getting a puppy that needed lots of exercise) was that the trails here are very well maintained and extensive and beautiful. They even have exercise equipment installed along some of the trails. And at this time of the year, there are very few people so it’s like having a massive park all to yourself. Every single time I take t
Soooo...let's begin with the campground itself. We really like Long Ravine, and the sites we got were nice -- level and shady for the most part. We opted for premium spots due to the size as we expected more family for the weekend. We had some mama deer and their babies wander through. The bees, wasps, and yellow jackets were out of control. We weren't too far from the bathrooms, which is always a plus. In past trips to Long Ravine, there were strategically placed trashcans that the staff were great about emptying them multiple times per day. This time, there were none. Very inconvenient. We arrived on a Thursday afternoon and found that we had the entire place to ourselves for the night. Wow...that was a first and it was weird, like horror movie what's-gonna-happen-tonight weird! As the n
Lake was really nice for swimming. There is a nice spot to set up and swim by the Cajun restaurant. The staff was super friendly, and we rented a kayak which was convenient. There was a good tree stump for jumping off into the water, and they had a side! Campsite has flushing toilets and a shower with hot water. Watch out for poison oak it was everywhere. We were in site 18, and it was really the best site in my opinion. Right by the trail, lots of room, and the other site were on hills. I only wish the store was a little more stocked. Mosquitoes are out bad right now so come prepared with bug spray.
The Best place I've been as far as "enjoying nature" since my childhood. I will definitely come back, the rocks are sharp by the shore, so you definitely should bring water shoes, but other than that another good recommendation is a intertube is great fun for adults and kids and bring life jackets for kids who can't swim., There is also about 3-4 tables up by Magie's store/food or something I believe that area is open from 11am-4pm....$17 bucks a car to have a day pass,...
This place and the people who manage it are trash. Rude. Accidentally walked in an area that was unmarked and a female who lives in a run down mobile home on the property rambles out and berates me for 10 minutes. Place is run down. People are nasty. Stay away.
