Lamplighter Motel

Kind of a scary place for women to stay: the door to the room had a lock that could easily be opened by turning the knob quickly; there was no chain on the inside door to hook a secure latch in the room; Smoke detectors never flashed a light to show you if they worked; overhead sprinklers were painted over and probably did not work; the window did not have a lock on it and could easily let someone in through the flimsy screen; no luggage rack; indifferent front desk staff; no amenities but hand soap. Well lit on the outside and easy to find off main road.

I’d give it zero stars if I could, drove 6 hours after booking a stay through Expedia and when we finally got there the manager was extremely rude and tried to charge me a second time saying “you don’t pay though Expedia you pay at the desk” trying to charge me an additional 85 dollars on top of what I had already paid. After a lot of angry remarks and ranting I left having to now find a new motel on the spot and pay even more money. And the establishment after I tried to cancel said they would charge me a fee, knowing it said nothing on either Expedia or or there website. Horrible place do not stay!!

Nice For The Price. My family and I stayed at the Lamplighter Motel in Clinton, Connecticut, for one night on Friday, October 20, 2023. Despite being an older establishment, the motel is well-maintained, clean, and comfortable. The room, though small, was cozy and well-kept, reflecting the care and attention given to the property. The staff was friendly, and both check-in and check-out processes were quick and efficient. We also appreciated the ease of parking. The motel's affordability was a pleasant surprise, offering excellent value for money. The location of the motel is convenient, situated in the charming town of Clinton, which added to our overall positive experience. It is definitely a budget motel that needs a little TLC. My room could have been cleaned better.lots of hair that wasn't mine and a few spiders in the shower. The woman behind the counter was very nice to me, though

You get what you pay for. This isn't a resort or a spot if you plan on spending a lot of time in the room. But it was clean enough(bedding and floors were clean, headboard and shower curtain were not) and the staff was very kind. Be prepared for small and simple. Amazing restaurant right across the street. We would absolutely stay again.
