Ethan Ax- I wanted to post a comment here in hopes you see it. You are absolutely correct. The motel is great, the owner is great too but Coldwater Outfitters is a joke. The owner originally booked rooms at the Barefoot Lodge as overflow for the hotel and after several groups had come and gone there were nothing but issues. Groups stayed from September through October and then the owner of Barefoot Lodge canceled the rest of his reservations for non payment. There was blood on sheets, dog poop all over the yard despite being asked on numerous occasions to have his staff clean up after their dogs and was even provided dog waste bags. Here it is March 1st and the lodge still has not received payment and the owner keeps lying about having mailed a check. I would like to mention there are MANY

Be weary if you're staying here with Coldwater Outfitters. The hotel is fine, but it is the main base for pheasant hunting with Coldwater Outfitters, which is in my opinion not a reputable outfit. Worse, their head guy, Bryan Dean, lies and misleads. If you're traveling in for a pheasant hunt with his crew do yourself a favor and cancel. You may not get your money back, but you'll save yourself a drive to South Dakota to shoot no birds. We received a call from Bryan, who we met at the NRA banquet, claiming we had "won" a half-price pheasant hunt. We ended up paying $1,500 per person for a three-day hunt, all food and lodging included (at half price, that would imply this is a $1,000 per day hunt). The lodging is actually just this hotel, which is your standard small-town South Dakota roads

Some of my finest memories as a kid were in this hotel in this small town fun times hunting pheasants with dad on Art and Edith's land priceless
