Lakeside Inn

I hesitate to write this review because this little gem has become so popular you now have to book a year in advance. I’ve been staying at the Lakeside Inn since around 2015, back when it needed quite a bit of TLC. You could book a room last minute, no problem. I’m not sure who was managing it then, but it was clear they were doing what they could just to keep things going.||What has always kept me coming back is the vibe of the place—there’s nothing else like it. But when Sam Darrigrand took over management, amazing things started happening. I stay at the Inn three to four times a year, and every single visit I notice something new Sam has done to make the experience even better.||Since he arrived, he has replaced all the beds with brand‑new mattresses, added an outdoor spray to rinse off

We rented the 11 Gables House for two nights for the Thanksgiving holiday. There were 8 of us in the house and 2 who stayed in a room in the inn. We had a wonderful holiday! The house is so well outfitted, that we had no problem cooking a gourmet Thanksgiving meal. If we needed anything extra, the innkeepers were more than happy to supply them. And we had a fire in the fireplace going the entire time; Arturo, the maintenance man at the inn, helped us carry the firewood more than once. He was very helpful. The only reason that I rated the rooms with 4 stars rather than 5, is because two of the rooms were particularly warm. But that's a lot better than rooms that were too cold. So nice to look out the windows and see the lovely neighborhood and even the lake from the house.

A charming craftsmen style Inn. It has beautiful lake views and deep history. Since my stay was during a winter storm I did not get to explore the beach or the backyard. However, the inside of the Inn was the epitome of cozy. The beautiful stone fireplace in the ballroom was the perfect spot to curl up at night with the warm fire. I loved all of the details inside my room bringing the whole atmosphere together. It was a tad chilly at night, but I just wore extra layers to sleep in. I also had plenty of hot water for a nice shower that helped warm me up. I would definitely recommend just to enjoy the charm.

My husband and I enjoyed the Inn very much! We enjoyed sitting by the pond and reading and all the yummy restaurants in the area. There are easy accessible steps down to Lake Michigan and back up. During our Fall stay the winds were pretty strong so we didn’t sit on the beach. All the colors in the area were Beautiful. If you’re looking for a relaxing stay this is definitely the place!!

Fantastic place to stay. The front porch is relaxing with all of the rocking chairs and porch swings and the soothing sounds of Lake Michigan. We ended both of our nights there by a cozy fire on the main floor. Just wonderful.
