Customer Reviews
Meredith is a lot of fun. Water is shallow, and so it is warm. Many complain about the water quality because it can be pretty cloudy. It was great to camp next to. If you get there on the right day, you can grab a spot right along the water. Depending on the time of year, there can be lake flies and other critters to contend with. The biggest thing is there is a cattle feed lot right next to the lake so air quality can play into the experience.
Just got here and I am already thinking about pushing out my schedule to stay here a couple more days. The area is beautiful. The road in wasn't too bad, I'm towing a 27' fifth wheel. There are several picnic shelters and I backed up to one of them with a very level spot next to it.
Absolutely NO amenities whatsoever. Big. Quiet. Tons of mosquitoes. Free. Dead fish litter beaches.
It is completely free to camp here. That's always awesome. Kudos to the county who runs this place for that. Other than that though, nothing real great about the place. No services whatsoever. No electric. No water. No bathrooms. No designated spots. There is a vault toilet though I can't speak on how clean it is as it looked pretty bad from the outside, so I didn't venture forth in to the place. This place is a pull up where you want and camp. The beach here is amazing and you can camp right on it. WARNING: IF YOU ARE NOT FROM CATTLE COUNTRY, THERE IS A FEED LOT RIGHT NEXT TO THIS CAMPGROUND. YOU WILL NOT ENJOY THE SMELL. THOSE OF US FROM CATTLE COUNTRY JUST ARE USED TO IT. FAIR WARNING.
The lake is nice and I was grateful that there were a couple of shelters. Depending on the winds it can be smelly from the nearby cattle pens. The toilet was a disaster and is in desperate need of cleaning. Most people bring their RVs and for them it's great since they can pull right up to shore but not so great for tent camping.
