La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Miami Airport East

Positive: Close to the airport. Negative: Rooms are outdated. My room didn’t have a microwave or mini fridge. The ice machine only worked on the 2nd floor. No soap. the mattress was terrible. If I didn’t sleep in the middle of the bed, the edges were so worn, I’d fall off.

Fine for a quick overnight stay near the airport. Room was clean, free airport shuttle service is a great perk ($15 to port of Miami too). But be prepared… our check in took 40+ minutes with just a few people ahead, the property is noticeably outdated, and room key issues were a real problem the night we stayed. Breakfast is skippable. Good value if your expectations are set accordingly

I’ve stayed in nicer red roof inns… First room had no ac. The next room had keys that didn’t work. 3rd time was the charm. Unfortunately, I was on the 4th floor and both elevators are sketchy at best. They were also really dirty. The rooms were run down and dirty. The sink faucet was loose. Our sheets were inside out. The king bed only had 3 regular sized pillows. Random companies walk through and throw menus under doors. The morning food buffet is way too small for how busy this area is. No food in the bar and no seating. We ordered food in from a local steakhouse for dinner.

This place is pretty much falling apart and no one seems to care. I stayed here three times in the last week. The floors in the room were not swept and had garbage on them. The walls were dirty, like stained around the door handles for example. One of the elevators was broken on at least two different occasions days apart. The breakfast is meager and the best items are gone within minutes of the breakfast opening. Two of the three waffle machines were broken. The bathtub had some shoddy repair job that was flaking off into the tub. Outside, there were holes in the walls from dry rot. The laundry machines were broken.

It was fairly easy to make a reservation online. Although a bit pricey for the star level hotel, it was nice and breakfast is included. They serve coffee all day too. Check-in took awhile and asked for too much of a deposit however courteous and they got me in early and worked to get the other people waiting too. There were more han a dozen waiting for rooms in the lobby. Rooms were spacious and clean and are equipped with a coffee maker and hair dryer.
