Kreis Pond Campground

Passing thur 90 west, the extra drive in was well worth it. 10$ a night My son caught two bass in the pond No cell service fyi Has two bathrooms.

Took us an hour to reach it mostly because the forest road is rough on towed campers. This is a gem! Worth your time though I imagine busy on weekends and holidays. Met a retiree who fly fishes it from a kayak. The pond is stocked with cutthroat trout. Oddly folks I talked to said there were bass in there and were thrilled to catch one. We have bass where I live and no trout so I’m in for the cutthroats. Several locals showed up to fish or scout a nearby hunting spot. I found it interesting that a Ranger sat up in his truck all night tucked away in the trees. I imagine to prevent nefarious behavior. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay even though I caught no fish. Very busy campground. Navigate with Google to the Ranger Station, then follow the signs. Make sure to bring a kayak or something to play in the water. Also some hiking/ biking trails leading out from campground.

This is a beautiful gem hidden in the outback. You cannot hear any trace of civilization. I was a little nervous about the long gravel road on my cruiser but it all worked out even the trip out in rain. I was treated to almost full moon reflecting off the pond.

Very nice campground, great pond size, in a great recreational area, ive spent about 4 weekends back to back here. Its quite the party area, some hiking spots nearby if your looking for a hike, do some fishing, or go for a quick dip in the lake. 10$ a night aint bad.
