Knife River Campground

Terrible campground. For starters they do not tell you that they are on the edge of the freeway so you get all the highway noise. There are no maps of the campground to help navigate you to your campsite nor are there any signs to tell you where campsites are located. Most of the sites are not designed for anything besides smaller RV's, the sites are narrow but deep. The site we were at was too narrow for our RV. There was a tree stump where our stairs go and we had no other place to park due to trees and locations of hookups. We ended up leaving and having to find a different RV park due to this site being unusable and the campground had no other sites available. The owner refused to refund us for the 3 unused days.

We had a great time with the family and the neighbors. The beach access to Lake Superior was great. They allow fires on the beach, which we had a great Time doing. The owners were very helpful and nice. When we stayed we went hiking at state parks and forests in the area, but there is plenty of other activities in Duluth and two harbors to participate in. Our family loved the campground and made many everlasting memories there. Our only concern was there wasn't much to do in knife river, but it wasn't a huge deal because of the large cities nearby. Great family oriented campground.

We liked the actual campground. The staff was great and helpful when we needed them. Ice on site. We aren't big on super primitive camping so we didn't mind that there wasn't a ton of privacy between each camp site. However, it is right on a busy road and it gets pretty loud. The lake is close and there's a nice little beach to hang out on. The bathrooms are super clean and we'll stocked. Overall, we would stay here again. The factors that we didn't like are things that can't be controlled. It was affordable and we had a good time!

Our family has stayed at Knife River Campground a number of times and always on Grandmas Marathon Weekend. We have always had a great stay, yes there are rules and you do have to abide by them which is great as you don't have a bunch of noise and parties going on late at night,(as we have ran into in other places), The owners have always been very nice and professional to us and have always made our stay great. The lake is a short walk away with a shore where you can have a fire and sit by the lake. The candy shop in town, (another short walk away), is a must visit when we are there. The bath house and grounds are well kept and have always been clean and stocked on our visits.

We love rocks and this beach is a gem! Agates, lots of tiny agates. We were in Duluth for our 25th wedding anniversary and this beach was recommended by a local. When you go, take your shoes off and walk the little pebbles. It's an amazing foot massage! The views are beautiful.
