Kellettville Firefly Farm

It's a cozy place and the owners are very nice people. I slept well and enjoyed breakfast. I also took a pleasant walk behind the property in a very scenic woods. The beautiful Minister Creek hiking trail is also a few miles down the road. I don't think you can beat the price also for this area. The frogs are chirp and make a very enjoyable ambiance. The host said the fire flies are extraordinary in late June which I plan to return for their firefly festival. Humming birds maintained a constant presence on the back porch. Loved it!!

We visited the Black Caddis Ranch the week before the June PA Firefly Festival, which is held at the ranch. The room we had was on the first floor of the circa 1900 farmhouse. This also included the exclusive use of the living room of the farm house, directly accessed from our room. The farm house is connected to a 2013 addition which includes a greatroom with fireplace, updated kitchen and a home theater which was all available for our use. We did not know about the upcoming festival when we booked our room. The synchronous and chinese lantern fireflies put on a great show for us. It was nice to take it in without the crowds that are present during the festival. We had a wonderful time! Peggy and Ken are amazing hosts and go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The house is beautiful and minutes away from hiking, kayaking, snowmobiling, and pretty much any other outdoor activity you can think of. Be sure to visit in the summer for the annual Firefly festival to experiences one of nature's most beautiful and magical experiences.

It is a very cozy place with different rooms. The owner Peggy is very friendly and she cooked great breakfast me and my husband. She cooked French toast and omelet for us in the morning and I love the pancakes with maple syrup very much. There are four bedrooms in the second floor and one bedroom in the first floor. She let us use her telescope to see the hummingbirds in her backyard. Her dog Ruby is very friendly too. It is just a pity that when we were there the temperature dropped to 50s. My husband and I had to change plans of kayaking and biking because it was too cold. The room was a little cold for me too but it was perfect for my husband. Generally,we had a nice time camping and enjoy Peggy's house very much.

We went to the firefly festival. What was advertised was in no way what we expected. It was advertised that they had vendors and crafts and food. It was so minimal that the drive we made was not even close to being worth the gas we used. There were also people doing drugs, smoking Marijuana. And there were many children around. I would not recommend telling parents to take their kids. Also, the bathroom porta potties were horrendous. They were filled to.the top and we're so smelly. Horrible experience altogether.
