Jo's Motel and Campground

As someone who loves vintage furniture and authentic vibes, I loved this place. My room was extremely clean and wonderfully eclectic with fantastic vintage furniture pieces and a 1970s set of Encyclopedia Brittanica. I felt like I was being transported back to another time. The grocery store had a good variety of options for such a small shop, I was impressed that I was able to get my favorite brand of organic frozen pizza and even some fresh veggies. I checked in just 15 minutes before they closed for the evening, and the proprietress was very patient while I gathered some groceries and a couple of beers for my evening. She also gave me the option of two types of coffee beans, and fresh ground them for me so that I would have them in the morning. Much nicer than those pods you get at most

We made a reservation more than a month in advance to go see Crater Lake. There were no vacancies in the Park of course, but then I found Jo's Motel. This was an old-fashioned strip motel, where you could park your car in a little carport next to your unit. The unit we had was two rooms. When I read the list of rules, plus they didn't allow children or pets -- I kind of figured that was why they had a vacancy. You had to check in by 7 p.m. so good thing we went straight there. I have to say the Organic Market was really cute and we picked up a few things there. When we checked in, and shopped, we weren't really welcomed. I felt like we were bothering the woman. The “motel” was more like a cottage, to our pleasant surprise. The cabin was very cozy and well-furnished, with a lovely fireplace heater. Large backyard and picnic tables near the river made this a secluded and scenic getaway. Robin showed great hospitality, and we love the fresh ground coffee and DVD. There’s also a decent selection for food in the shop. This place is a gem if you want to stay near Crater Lake

This was the perfect location to visit Crater Lake. Our room was incredibly clean and cozy and the owners couldn't have been any sweeter. Their organic market provided the snacks, drinks and dinners we needed for this getaway. They even ground some coffee for us to enjoy in the morning! Make sure you take a look at their hours and rules. As they mention, the location has no Wi-Fi and is definitely in a small, isolated town. My only criticism is that the pillows in the room could use an upgrade, but it didn't take away from our experience here. Make sure to check out Wood River right behind their motel, it's a great place to unwind after a day of hiking. Jo's Motel rules!

Jo and her husband are the kindest people. I was panicking as the campgrounds were full and I needed a place to stay, and I was so fortunate that Jo had rooms available. The suite was clean and cozy. Jo was so sweet and ground up some coffee for me and made the whole experience so much better. I highly recommend coming here!!
